To join the Conference you need to register for the event. Registration will remain open until Friday, May 12.
We suggest you book your accommodation as soon as possible to secure your stay in town.
How the Conference works
Once you have registered for the event, a confirmation email will be sent to the email address that you have entered. We do encourage you to go paperless and use the link provided in your confirmation to access your Delegate programme, information on Public Transport, Accomodation, Getting to the University of Cologne and more useful information.
Please notice that specific safety procedures may apply during the event in compliance with the Covid-19-related regulations in place. Registered participants will be informed in due time in case substantial changes need to be made to the programme.

Founded in 1985 and formally constituted by Charter in 1987, the Coimbra Group is an association of long-established European multidisciplinary universities of high international standard. The Coimbra Group is committed to creating special academic and cultural ties in order to promote, for the benefit of its members, internationalisation, academic collaboration, excellence in learning and research, and service to society. It is also the purpose of the Group to influence European educational policy and to develop best practice through mutual exchange of experience.

Getting to the University of Cologne

Arrival at Cologne Bonn Airport: Take either the S-Bahn line S13 (20-minute intervals), a regional train or an intercity/intercity express (IC/ICE) to Cologne Central Station. The journey takes about 15 minutes. A taxi ride costs about 25 € (approx. 20 km). From Cologne Central Station, take the subway/tram lines 16 or 18 to the stop Neumarkt, from there take subway/tram line 9 in the direction “Sülz” to the stop Universität. |

→ From Düsseldorf International Airport (DUS) (40 km) |
Arrival at Düsseldorf International Airport: Take the overhead railway “SkyTrain” to the Düsseldorf Airport train station. Connect with a regional train (e.g. RegionalExpress 1 or 5) or an intercity/intercity express (IC/ICE) to Cologne Central Station. The direct connection takes about 40 minutes. A taxi ride costs about 75 € (approx. 50 km). From Cologne Central Station, take the subway/tram lines 16 or 18 to the stop Neumarkt, from there take subway/tram line 9 in the direction “Sülz” to the stop Universität. |

→ From Frankfurt Airport (FRA) (150 km) |
Arrival at Frankfurt Airport: Take an intercity/intercity express (IC/ICE) to Cologne Central Station. The ICE travel time is about 60 minutes. The entire journey takes about 85 minutes. From Cologne Central Station, take the subway/tram lines 16 or 18 to the stop Neumarkt, from there take subway/tram line 9 in the direction “Sülz” to the stop Universität. |

→ From the Airport Düsseldorf/Weeze (NRN) (92 km) |
Arrival at the Airport Dusseldorf/Weeze: Take the bus to Cologne Messe/Deutz. The journey takes about 2.5 hours and costs 22 € for a single ticket. Take subway/tram line 9 in the direction “Sülz” to the stop Universität. To the University Hospital, continue on subway/tram line 9 in the direction “Sülz” to the stop Lindenburg. A taxi from Köln Messe/Deutz to the university costs approximately 20 €. |

Arrival at the Airport Frankfurt/Hahn: Take the bus to Koblenz Central Station. From there ake the train to Cologne Central Station. The journey takes about 3 hours (approx 190km). From Cologne Central Station, take the subway/tram lines 16 or 18 to the stop Neumarkt, from there take subway/tram line 9 in the direction “Sülz” to the stop Universität. |

Take the subway/tram lines 16 or 18 to the stop Neumarkt, from there take subway/tram line 9 in the direction “Sülz” to the stop Universität. You can buy tickets on the platform or inside the train. The ride takes approximately 20 minutes. To the University Hospital, continue on subway/tram line 9 in the direction “Sülz” to the stop Lindenburg. A taxi from Cologne Central Station to the university costs approximately 15 €. |

Take the exit “Zülpicher Strasse”. After the exit, walk along Zülpicher Strasse in the direction Lindenthal to the intersection of Universitätsstrasse. Turn right on Universitätsstrasse and walk to the main building (approximately 5 to 10 minute walk). |
