MONEY AND PAYMENT
The Norwegian currency is NOK (Kroner) which is sometimes mistranslated into “crowns” in English. DNB at Oslo Airport has ATMs, a cash service and exchange services. Opening hours arrival hall: Monday-Friday 08.00-15.30. Saturday-Sunday closed.

Visa and MasterCard are the most commonly accepted credit cards, with far fewer accepting Amex or Diners. If in doubt, ask before shopping. Post offices and some grocery shops or supermarkets do not accept foreign credit cards, although they happily take debit cards.


LANGUAGE

The official language in Norway is Norwegian and English is widely spoken. The conference will be conducted in English. Interpretation to French, Spanish, Portuguese and Indonesian will be available in selected sessions.


INTERNET

Internet access is good either through mobile data, or public wifi in cafés and other public areas. Most hotels have free Internet access in the rooms.

All of Norway uses Central European Time (CET), which is one hour ahead of Coordinated Universal time (UTC+1).

DRINKING WATER

Tap water is universally drinkable in Norway and tastes great. So, no need to buy bottled water.


ELECTRICITY

220 volts AC (50 Hz) is the Norwegian standard. Norway uses the continental European standard socket.
Almost all electricity in Norway is hydroelectric, so use it with a clear conscience.

 


TRAVELLING WITH DISABILITIES

All newly constructed buildings are required by law to have wheelchair access and most public transport can accommodate wheelchair users. If you have any disabilities that will require special facilitated transport services, please indicate this in the registration form.
