Who are we?
SSPD was founded in 1972 by representatives from the prosthodontic departments of the dental schools in the five Nordic countries Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden.
SSPD aims to promote scientific activity and advance knowledge of prosthetic dentistry within the Nordic countries.

Annual meeting
A scientific meeting is arranged annually with the society’s General Assembly, alternating between the Nordic countries. The official language at these meetings is English.

Board
The board of SSPD consists of the President, the Secretary, the Treasurer, and one national representative from each of the five Nordic countries. The board is supplemented by a local Secretary for each annual meeting.

Educational committee
The educational committee of SSPD consists of teachers in prosthetic dentistry from all Nordic schools of dentistry. The commitee holds one or two meetings annually.

Between 1978 and 2006 the committee has published about 40 SSPD reports. The SSPD reports are peer reviewed publications on specific topics in prosthetic dentistry, and form the ISSN 1104-8964 serial publication. The reports are written in either Danish, Norwegian or Swedish. The educational committee is reponsible for the scientific validity of the content of the SSPD reports. The SSPD reports are used in the prosthodontic curriculum and are distributed to all members of SSPD via this website (only available after login).
