Tomas Albrektsson

Prof. Tomas Albrektsson was recruited by Prof. Per-Ingvar Brånemark in 1967 to study osseointegrated implants at Gothenburg University. He completed his MD in 1973 and his doctorate in 1979, publishing his thesis on the healing of bone grafts (with Brånemark as faculty supervisor). He has since authored several published studies on osseointegration, has been the editor of ten scientific books, and has served on eight editorial boards of international scientific journals. Currently, Prof. Albrektsson is professor emeritus of the Department of Biomaterials at Gothenburg University, visiting professor at the Prosthodontics Department of Malmö Dental School, and affiliated with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.

Bente Brokstad Herlofsen, Norway

Professor, specialist in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the Department of Oral Surgery and Oral Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry, University of Oslo and at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery Division for Head, Neck and Reconstructive Surgery, Oslo University, University Hospital, Norway.

Specific research interests: oral morbidity in cancer and cancer treatment, oral oncology, effects of anti-resorptive medication on bone and bone cells, osteonecrosis of the jaw, oral health related quality of life in cancer patient, oral late effects in patients treated for head- and neck cancer and cancers outside the head- and neck area.


Edward Ellis III, USA

Dr. Ellis is Professor and Chair of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Texas.
Dr. Ellis’ clinical interests are in maxillofacial traumatology and dentofacial deformities. He has authored over 200 scientific articles and two books. He is the past President of the American Board of Oral and  Maxillofacial Surgery and has been on the editorial boards of many Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery journals for several years.

Kathrine Johnsen Brooker, Norway

Carina Kruger Weiner, Sweden

Assistant professor and lecturer at the Karolinska Institute and senior Consultant Surgeon.
Since 2016, she is the head of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Folktandvården Eastmaninstitutet Stockholm, Sweden. Dr Kruger Weiner has a scientific background in clinical immunology and a research interest in temporomandibular joint disorders and  surgery, focusing on arthroscopic surgery in patients with juvenile arthritis. She is also a board member of the Swedish association of Oral and Maxillofacial surgeons and in the Eastman international Alliance.

Even Mjøen, Norway

Dr. Even Mjøen(DDS, MD) graduated with dual degree from the University of Oslo. He completed his training in Cranio Maxillofacial Surgery at Oslo University hospital in 2014.

Currently Dr. Mjøen is working as a consultant at the Department of Cranio Maxillofacial  Surgery, Oslo University hospital, where he also is involved in the residency program.

His main focus is in the field of Traumatology, orofacial pain/TMJ and Reconstructive Surgery. He has special interests in virtual planning/3D print, TMJ reconstruction and craniofacial injuries, and his field of research is TMJ replacements.

Dr. Mjøen represents the Norwegian Association of Cranio Maxillofacial Surgery as President.


Heming Olsen-Bergem, Norway

Heming Olsen-Bergem is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon since 2005. 
He holds a PhD from 2015 regarding juvenile idiopathic arthritis, and is currently working as a Associate Professor at University of Oslo, at Drammen Hospital ENT Dept, and in Norwegian Army Joint Medical Services. 
He is particularly interested in the treatment of pain conditions, and in special, pain in children and adolescents.

Daniel Thoma, Switzerland

Head of Reconstructive Dentistry and Vice-Chairman at the Clinic of Reconstructive Dentistry, University of Zurich, Switzerland.
He graduated in 2000 at the University of Basel, Switzerland and was trained in implant dentistry and prosthodontics at the Clinic of Reconstructive Dentistry, University of Zurich, Switzerland. Dr. Thoma was the recipient of an ITI scholarship and spent 1 year at the Department of Periodontics, University of Texas, Health Science Center, San Antonio, USA.  Between 2008 and 2012, he was a full-time Senior Teaching and Research Assistant at the Clinic of Reconstructive Dentistry at the University of Zurich, Switzerland. In 2016, Dr. Thoma was a Visiting Associate Professor at the Department of Periodontology, Yonsei University, Seoul, South Korea. Since 2020, Dr. Thoma is an Adjunct Professor and serves as the Head of Reconstructive Dentistry. His focus is on the comprehensive treatment of complex, partially edentulous patients applying all available options of reconstructive dentistry including dental implants. His main scientific interest is related to hard and soft tissue regeneration. He has published numerous scientific and clinical articles in these fields. Dr. Thoma is a Fellow of the International Team of Implantology (ITI) and member of Osteology Expert Council.
