ABSTRACTS


We are pleased to announce that the call for abstracts for DevRes 2020 is now open!

Research for development covers a broad range of topics and approaches which generates knowledge that benefits sustainable development.  We welcome submissions from researchers, policy makers, practitioners, funders and other stakeholders. Submissions should be related to one or several of the Sustainable Development Goals with the aim to improve conditions in low-resource settings.

This page outlines all of the information you need to prepare for a submission. The different forms of submissions are described below. Please read this information carefully and click HERE TO SUBMITT AN ABSTRACT. 

Submission deadline
Submissions close on February 20, 2020.

1. Proposal for sessions
You may submit proposals for 90-minute sessions:


The session template requires the following information:

Scoring of sessions
The sessions will be selected on the basis of: (i) technical/scientific merit; (ii) relevance to the conference (iii) originality and innovation; (iv) diversity of engaged speakers (e.g. balance across gender, country-income group and/or role); and (v) potential for active involvement by the audience.

2. Proposal for abstracts
Individual abstracts may be submitted as an oral or poster presentation.

An oral presentation is a 10-minute oral presentation with 5 minutes allowed for questions. Note: If an abstract is submitted as an oral presentation, it may be accepted as a poster - please do not submit for both for the same abstract.

A poster is a physical display that is no more than 120 cm by 80 cm in size.

There is a 400 word limit for the abstract text. Please make sure that the abstract text includes the following at a minimum:

The individual abstracts will be selected on the basis of: (i) technical/scientific merit; (ii) relevance to the conference (iii) originality and innovation.

3. Proposal for multimedia presentation
A multimedia presentation could be a short film (fiction/documentary/animation) or photo-essay.

There is a 400 word limit for the description of the media content. Please make sure that the text includes the following at a minimum:

The presentation will be assessed on the basis of: (i) originality and innovation; (ii) relevance to the conference.


Travel Grants:
The Swedish international development cooperation agency (Sida) offers a limited number of travel grants for researchers from low-income countries (primarily following the DAC list of low-income countries, see list here) whom have had their abstracts accepted for the conference. Each conference panel can have one presenter on a travel grant. The travel grant covers travels, accommodation, and conference fee.

To apply for the travel grant, please check the box "Travel grant applicant" in the online abstract submission system which opened on 20 November 2019.

Selected travel grant holders will be contacted directly by the organizing committee with information about how to proceed.
