The Honourable Gudie Hutchings, Minister of Rural Economic Development, to speak at a national event celebrating Canada’s rural and remote communities

May 5, 2022

One of the highlights of this year’s conference is a special reception on Monday evening, May 9th at the Westin Ottawa to highlight the contributions the Community Futures Program has made in helping Canada’s rural, remote and Indigenous communities recover from the economic effects of the pandemic.

The event, Rural and Remote Opportunities, gives you an exclusive opportunity to connect with colleagues from across the country while networking with invited guests and Members of Parliament. The Honourable Gudie Hutchings, Minister of Rural Economic Development, will deliver the opening remarks at the reception. This will be the first time that the Minister of Rural Economic Development will address the network of 267 Community Futures organizations about her Ministry’s role in supporting economic recovery, growth and resilience.

In addition to Minister Hutchings, Community Futures members have invited their local Members of Parliament to attend the reception to help us celebrate our achievements and to learn more about the work Community Futures does and the positive impact we have had on strengthening the economies of rural and remote communities across Canada.

The reception will feature a "Taste of Canada" buffet, offering a selection of regional dishes from across Canada, prepared exclusively by the Westin Ottawa culinary team and a video montage of successful small business owners who have received Community Futures support in starting and/or growing their businesses.
