Dr. Syed Ali, FIAC

Syed Z. Ali, MD, FRCPath, FIAC is Professor of Pathology and Radiology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and Director of the Division of Cytopathology at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. Internationally recognized as a leading educator, he has delivered over 375 invited lectures worldwide and directs several major annual cytopathology educational programs.
Dr. Ali has authored more than 335 peer-reviewed articles and over 35 books and book chapters. He is widely known for his expertise in thyroid and pancreatic cytopathology and is the principal author of The Bethesda System for Reporting Thyroid Cytopathology. He is the founding Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the American Society of Cytopathology, a past President of the ASC, and currently serves as President of the International Academy of Cytology.

Dr. Christina Kåbjörn Gustafsson
Sweden 
 

Senior cytopathologist with broad experience in clinical cytology. President of the Swedish Society of Clinical Cytology and member of the European Federation of Cytology Societies (EFCS), serving on several committees.
She is also Chair of the Residents and YEFCS Committee and is involved in education and support for early-career professionals in cytology.

Dr. Massimo Bongiovanni, FIAC
Switzerland

 

Dr. Bongiovanni is Director of Cytopathology at Unilabs in Lausanne, Switzerland, and a Fellow of the International Academy of Cytology (FIAC). He completed his medical degree in 1997 and pathology residency in 2002 at the University of Turin, Italy, and has held leadership roles in cytopathology at the University Hospitals of Geneva and Lausanne.

He has authored over 200 scientific articles and 15 book chapters, served as Vice President of the Swiss Cytology Society, and is co-chair of the scientific committee of the European Federation of Cytology Societies (EFCS). He is also associate editor of Acta Cytologica and on the editorial board of Diagnostic Cytopathology.

Practising consultant cytopathologist and urological histopathologist with an understanding of the difficulties in reporting these at different levels of experience. Contributing author to the Paris system, and UK RCPath guidelines for uropathology reporting.

Dr. Henrik Edvardsson, MD

Sweden

Henrik Edvardsson, MD. Consultant in Pathology and Cytology. Board member Swedish Society for Clinical Cytology President Swedish Working Group for Exfoliative Cytology President Equalis´s Advisory Group for Cervical Cancer Prevention Board member National Guidelines for Cervical Cancer Prevention in Sweden. Dr. Henrik Edvardsson completed his medical education in 1992 and has been a consultant in pathology and cytology since 2000 at the Department of Pathology and Cytology, Central Hospital Karlstad, Sweden.

Since 2020 he is also a consultant at the Department of Pathology and Cancer Diagnostics, Karolinska Hospital, Stockholm with cervical cytology and exfoliative cytology as main tasks. He is a contributor to national guidelines for cervical cancer prevention and to national guidelines for cancer in the bile ducts, in the liver and in the pancreas. Other interests include FNA, ROSE, lungpathology and quality assurance work in cervical screening and HPV-analysis.
