Accommodation

Hotel capacity in Longyearbyen is limited, and a room must be booked as part of the registration process. We have secured rooms at two hotels, and these are available for booking until 25 February at a special rate.

Spitsbergen Hotel

Offering modern comfort in historic surroundings, Spitsbergen Hotel Funken offers a unique Svalbard experience. It provides the best view of Longyearbyen as well as the surrounding mountains and glaciers. Built in 1947, the hotel has been expanded and renovated over the years to confer a touch of luxury. Its atmosphere is inspired by the white-collar staff who lived there when Longyearbyen was primarily a coal-mining town. The hotel also accommodates one of Longyearbyen’s best restaurants, Funktion√¶rmessen, and its famous champagne cellar. This served in the old days as the store for alcohol sales to the miners.

Radisson Blu Polar Hotel

Rated as the northernmost full service hotel, this offers you accommodation in the heart of Longyearbyen. Enjoy the view of the majestic Hiortfjellet mountain while being served exciting Arctic dishes with excellent wines in the restaurant found in the same building. While the hotel was established in 1995, the section housing its rooms was originally constructed and used as a sponsor hotel for the American team during the 1994 Winter Olympics at Lillehammer in Norway.
